The reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace.  This anointing highlights the name Christian which means anointed and derives from Christ himself whom God "anointed with the Holy Spirit"

Confirmation both confirms baptism and strengthens baptismal grace.

The Signs and Symbols of Confirmation

Sign of the Anointing signifies a spiritual seal.  By his anointing, the person receives the "mark " of the seal of the Holy Spirit.

The seal of the Holy Spirit marks our total belonging to Christ, our enrollment in his service forever.

    The Effects of Confirmation

Confirmation brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace.  It gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to:
    • Spread and defend the faith by word and by action

    • Confess the name of Christ boldly and never be ashamed of the Cross
